Emergency Auto Supplies

It’s surprising how many people travel without basic survival equipment.  Even in sub-freezing temperatures, they routinely travel without the basic necessities to keep them from freezing to death if they have a simple vehicle malfunction.

Each vehicle that you drive on a regular basis should contain some emergency supplies.  These items will help you in case of a breakdown or if a larger disaster occurs when you are not at home.  You should also carry your bug out bag whenever you travel more than a few miles from home because its not just a bug out bag, it’s a get home bag as well.

Other Recommendations

You never know when a disaster can suddenly occur so there are a few things that you might want to consider doing to be prepared for the unexpected:

·         Always keep your auto’s fuel tank at least half full.  If there’s a power outage, or a disaster that requires you to evacuate, you might not be able to get fuel for some time.  You won’t always have enough warning to go to the gas station for fuel and even if you do, you might be facing long lines and shortages,

·         Always carry extra motor oil antifreeze and transmission fluid.

·         Be sure that your jack is in working condition and easy to use.  Upgrade to a better jack if necessary.

·         Make sure that your spare tire is in good condition and that all drivers of the vehicle know how to change a tire.

·         Perform regular maintenance on your vehicle so it remains dependable.
